Lake Chalain

Lake Chalain is the Jura's biggest natural lake. The remains of dwelling-houses built on stilts some 3,000 years BC, have been incredibly well preserved just below the surface of the water.

30 years of studying these lake dwellings have made the site a remarkable source of information about life in the Neolithic era.

In addition to its remarkable past, today Lake Chalain is the dream destination for holidaymakers and sports enthusiasts. All sorts of activities are available in, on and around the lake, while its beautiful turquoise waters can be admired from the Fontenu viewpoint.
