Walking in the Jura mountains

Walks around the lakes

• Lake Chalain circuit

• Lake Bonlieu circuit

• Lake Vouglans circuit

Walks near Les Cascades du Hérisson (Hedgehog Falls)

A special trail takes you round the 7 waterfalls.

There are many discovery trails to introduce you to the flora and fauna of this area, as well as its heritage sites. You can take a walking tour in the Jura whatever the season. Spring is the best time to admire the flora and fauna, and the rivers run fast. The long summer days mean you can go on a really long trek. The forests are magnificent in the autumn, with mushrooms a-plenty and migrating birds to spot. And in the winter the landscape offers its wonderful spectacle of amazing frozen lakes.

For the best walks make sure you are suitably equipped and ensure that your behaviour is worthy of the true walking enthusiast. In return, a walk in the Jura mountains and lakes offers fabulous flora, dramatic terrain, and, if you're lucky, a chance encounter with a chamois!
